SHIFT: Nights (rotating weekends)

SCHEDULE: Full-time

Position Summary
Responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients with a broad range of illnesses. The RN is involved in direct and indirect patient care. The RN provides direction to licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) and other non-licensed nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The staff nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital. In collaboration with other health team members, follows the philosophy, policies and goals of the facility and department.
Job Function
 

Performs a complete and accurate nursing assessment on assigned patients.

 
  • Completes admission interview accurately within 24 hours of patient admission.

  • Performs and legibly documents patient assessment completely and accurately per shift or more frequently, as indicated by patient condition.

  • Identifies changes in patient condition (i.e. test results, abnormal findings, etc.) and reports to the physician and/or Supervisor, Nursing Unit.

  • Assesses and documents patient’s educational needs on admission and throughout hospitalization.

     

Plans comprehensive nursing care for assigned patients according to written hospital standards and physician orders.

  • Initiates and individualizes appropriate areas of the MITP within 24 hours of admission.

  • Identifies and prioritizes relevant nursing diagnoses.

  • Delegates appropriate nursing duties to PCAs and PCTs

  • Reviews and updates MITP daily.
