POSITION SUMMARY:  A Nursing Supervisor is a registered professional Nurse who is responsible for the nursing supervision and administration of patient care services of the hospital in collaboration with Administration.   The Nursing Supervisor is the extension of the CNO/ACNO and coordinates functions with physicians and other departments of the hospital in a spirit that fosters positive working relationships.  Responsible for the continual assessment of patient census, unit staffing, admissions from outside the facility and add on surgical cases as well as the overall quality of nursing care being provided.  Oversees patient care and delegated functions based upon the nursing process and in compliance with Policy and Procedure and Standards of Care.  Responsible to see that patient care services are provided for patients from newborn to geriatric with appropriately trained staff.  Must perform routine rounds to al l units throughout the shift.   Responsible for monitoring & managing staffing all nursing units taking into account staffing guidelines, skill mix, and patient acuity.  Responsible to assign all patient admissions to a nursing unit taking into account the patient’s requirement for nursing care and the available nursing resources.  Actively assist in daily planning related to problem solving and departmental improvements.  Responsible for obtaining needed supplies from various departments.  He/She is a representative of hospital administration and must present themselves in a professional manner at all times.  Is responsible for maintaining / updating all required logs (e.g. Restraint, Death Summary, Transfer, Divert, Rapid Respons...
