The postpartum or mother-baby nurse is tasked with caring for both mother and
newborn baby once a birth has taken place. This nurse utilizes a strong set of skills to
recognize and act upon postpartum emergencies for both
patients.

- Average 2800-3000 births annually.
- Support
staff includes Nursery RN, Lactation Consultants, Birth Certificate Registrar, infant
photography and newborn hearing screeners.
Responsibilities:
- The
role of the Registered Nurse is to perform patient care under the direction of
the Nurse Manager/Director.
- The Registered
Nurse provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care
of the patient, and in support of the mission of Overland Park Regional Medical
Center.
- The Registered Nurse Mother Baby
unit cares for women of childbearing age and newborns.
Qualifications What Qualifications You Will Need:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of
practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and
regulation.
Ability to achieve and maintain BLS. NRP certification required within 6 months
of hire. Professional certification in specialty practice area preferred. Excellent
interpersonal skills required.
- One year experience experience required in Postpartum/Women's Health.
