JOB SUMMARY
The MCS Coordinator is a registered nurse who plans, coordinates and implements the care of the ECMO, heart failure patients and the pre/post-VAD patient, case management, as applicable, in both the in-patient and out- patient settings in accordance with the nursing process. This position has 24-hour accountability for the clinical practice of nursing and coordination for the delivery of patient care for the ECMO/VAD patient populations. This role encompasses coordination of human, fiscal and other resources, development of personnel, compliance with regulatory and professional standards, strategic planning and fostering of collaborative relationships. Participates in direct patient care as needed, including rotational on-call coverage. Collaborates with other team leaders in sharing of staff and resources, as well as assists in the cross training of the staff. Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (Minimum amount of specifically related experience which is required to perform the role at this level.
Requires a minimum of two years of critical care experience and one year experience in management of organ failure/transplant/VAD patients preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIRED (Minimum formal academic training which typically provides the knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance. Note in Other if experience may be substituted.)
Bachelor’s Degree-Major: Nursing

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required: Registered Nurse with current state licensure or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact.

Required Upon Hire

Required within 90 days - If working under compact license, must have current state licensure within 90 days.

BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Required Upon Hire

ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
Required Upon Hire

Preferred: Certified in specialty area
