The Apheresis Nurse assumes primary responsibility for performing all aspects of apheresis procedures while providing optimum nursing care in a safe environment.  The Apheresis Nurse role models and promotes ICARE customer standards, adheres to SAMC/SDP Code of Conduct. During his/her designated shift.

  •  Demonstrates and consistently role models excellent customer service skills (to include adherence to SDP: Mission, Vision, and Values/ICARE Standards/Code of Conduct).

  • Exhibits behavior that consistently demonstrates a positive attitude and serves as a positive role model to staff, patients, families, physicians, and ancillary personnel. 

  • Coordinates, directs, evaluates and modifies the delivery of patient care on an assigned shift.

  • Responsible for the performance of all aspects of Apheresis procedures, patient assessment monitoring during the procedure and accurately records all pertinent data in the electronic record.

  • Serves as a resource to nursing personnel and members of the interdisciplinary team (BMT, etc.)

  • Able to adapt positively to demands of busy unit/patient(s), rapidly changing unit/patient needs.

  • Able to work collaboratively/effectively in a timely manner with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare professionals.

  • Must be able to complete assignments independent and to work as part of a team; be able to take instruction from supervisor; able to exercise problem solving
