West Hills Hospital & Medical Center is a full-service acute care facility located in West Hills, CA, in the Western San Fernando Valley. The 225-bed facility recently completed an $80-million expansion that includes a new Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Outpatient Services Unit, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and The Grossman Burn Center. Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates, and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units.  He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit’s standards or care.  He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner appropriate to the developmental stage of the patient.  Recent appropriate nursing practice in the patient population areas to be served.  Ability to participate in considerable walking and standing, moderate lifting, and exposure to patient elements and handling of emergencies and critical patient incidents.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:
Licensure/ Certification/Registration:
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California required.
  • BCLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • PALS certification required.
  • NRP certification required.
  • AB508 or CPI certification required.
  • CCRN preferred
Education:
  • Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served. 
  • Must meet clinical standards specific to multiple patient care areas.
  • Demonstrates competency in three of the four POD units within three shifts during orientation required.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in critical care in an acute care hospital within the last three years required.
Special Qualifications:
  • Ability to read EKG/Cardiac Monitors. 
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
