It takes a special person to become a nurse, but that's even truer for those who go on to become Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurses. These dedicated professionals care for the most fragile patients there are sick and premature newborns. In addition, they are on the front lines when it comes to helping scared parents through what is often a traumatic experience. 

About this unit:
  • 32-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • Team work!! The culture that surrounds us in the NICU is not only one of great patient care, but the feeling of true support by those who work beside you.
  • Supportive nurse leaders, experienced Charge RNs & exceptional physician support.

Responsibilities:

  • The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for the delivery and management of patient care.  S/he utilizes the nursing process, the healthcare environment, and current technology to provide a climate which optimizes patient care and staff development.

Qualifications

What Qualifications You Will Need:
  • Current Louisiana or Compact Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • NRP certification required within 6 months and ACLS required within 1 year of employment for assignment in L&D.
  • Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills required.
  • BLS certification required at hire and maintained.
  • Basic computer skills
  • NICU experience highly preferred, but will consider ICU experience
