The Pediatric Hem/Onc Registered Nurse is a clinically competent practitioner of pediatric, family-centered nursing services providing safe and effective care to the pediatric population. The Pediatric RN is responsible for assessing, evaluating, planning, implementing, and coordinating a treatment plan and achieving the goals of the nursing department.
What you will do in this role:
  • You will work collaboratively with the clinical medical provider, to empower children and their families to make informed decisions regarding their health care, including health promotion and prevention of disease or complications
  • You will provide education to the patient and/or parent/guardian in a manner that the recipient understands in order to contribute to positive patient care outcome and patient satisfaction
  • You will maintain and review patients’ records including posting tests and examination results
  • You will administer medications in accordance with physician orders
  • You will check rooms daily for necessary supplies
  • You will respond to and refer incoming telephone calls (may include phone triage when needed)

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is required
  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state which you practice and/or hold an active Compact/Multi-State RN license
  • A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required
  • A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Health Care Provider is preferred and required to be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer date
  • Prior acute care Registered Nurse experience with pediatric patients preferred

 

 

Pediatrics Specialty Unit is stationed with 28-beds. We see hematology, oncology and surgery patients. The average nurse/patient ratio is anywhere from 1:3-4 (depending on patient acuity).
