III Trauma), Cardiology, Women’s Services, Labor & Delivery, Neonatal
Intensive Care, Neuroscience, Pediatric care, and Wound Care Management. Las
Palmas Medical Center is also the only Kidney Transplant Center in the Region.
Las Palmas Rehabilitation Hospital is a separate facility with newly renovated
patient rooms, exercise equipment and cafeteria. The physicians, nurses and

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general
supervision of the Charge Nurse or Unit Director the staff nurse assumes
responsibility for direct nursing care and coordination of care with ancillary
units and physicians on his/her designated shifts. In collaboration with other members of the
management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing provision of excellent
quality of patient care services provided in unit. The clinical RN assesses,
plans, implements, evaluates, delegates, and coordinates treatment plans and
the plan of care with the healthcare team involved in the patient’s care, as
well as with the patient.
POPULATION
SERVED:
Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the
following patient population(s): Malignancies
involving al body systems requiring medical/surgical, chemo/radiation therapies
including but not limited to Neuro, GYN/GU, GI, pulmonary, skeletal, renal,
metabolic, and hematopoietic systems, medical/surgical diagnoses and those
requiring isolation precautions. Will also care for post surgical patients who
have under gone robotic GYN surgery, hysterectomies, mastectomies, skin grafts
and general surgery patients. May also care for post partum mothers whose
neonates are in NICU( will not be taking care of neonates), etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrates knowledge
and application of the nursing process.
- Monitor and recognizes
changes in the patient’s behavioral and physiological status; takes
appropriate action based on assessment.
- Utilizes professional
skills and judgment in delivering and/or delegating care for a group of
patients.
- Provides leadership and
direction to all disciplines assigned to the health care team.

Qualifications REQUIRED LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION:
- RN licensed in state of Texas/Compact state
- ADN or BSN
- BCLS
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Ability or work within a team to ensure quality care
